What it does
Self-driving content is a Grok bot for Sanity CMS projects. It reads the schema and the content already in the dataset, finds the places where AI could add net new content rather than rewrite what's there, then designs how that content gets written and runs it.
Every piece lands in Sanity as a draft. Nothing goes live until a person says yes.
How it talks to Sanity
It works through the Sanity connector: schema reads to learn the document types, GROQ queries to see what already exists, and draft writes for anything new. It keeps a voice profile for each document type, because a changelog entry and a landing page shouldn't read the same.
It doesn't use Sanity AI Assist or Agent Actions. The drafts sit in the same draft state your editors already review in the Studio.
The first run: 16 changelog posts
Its first job was our own open-source starter, turbo-start-sanity. It wrote 16 changelog posts for the starter's blog from merged pull requests, going back to January 2025 (opens in new tab).
Each post came with a review log and a ledger entry, landed in Sanity as a draft, and was published only after Jono said yes. They're live on the starter's demo blog (opens in new tab).
It needs something to write from. The changelog worked because there were merged pull requests to read; a project with no source material gives it nothing to go on.
