Frequently asked questions

What is Sanity's knowledge base feature?
Knowledge base creates a giant pool of information from your content and helps you find gaps and inconsistencies across your website, database, documentation, and PDFs. You can use it to spot when pricing differs between your site and database, or when return policies contradict each other across different pages, helping you maintain accurate information everywhere.
How can knowledge bases help with content inconsistencies?
It surfaces conflicts like when your website says pricing is ten pounds but your database says fifteen, or when documentation claims thirty-day returns but your product page says fifteen days. You can then identify which information is correct and update your systems accordingly to keep everything aligned.
What are Sanity workflows and how do they work?
Workflows let you set up multiple steps for content approval and refinement. For example, you might have an AI generate a draft, a human editor cut it down and add personality, then a legal team review it before publishing. You can have two steps, ten steps, or twenty steps depending on your needs and team structure.
Can knowledge bases work with non-Sanity systems?
Yes, knowledge bases work with existing Sanity setups but also with websites and systems that aren't on Sanity as long as they can be scraped, and they work with PDFs too. This flexibility makes it useful for companies with diverse technical stacks who want to consolidate their information and find gaps.
What are Sanity blueprints?
Blueprints are coming soon and automate common tasks by understanding your setup and building solutions without manual work. For example, a redirect blueprint watches for URL changes and automatically creates redirects from old pages to new ones so you don't lose search rankings from indexed old links.
How can knowledge bases help LLMs and AI agents?
You can set up a knowledge base as an MCP endpoint that LLMs and AI agents can query to find information. This lets you see what information they're searching for and identify content gaps. If multiple LLMs repeatedly search for something you haven't documented, you know that's a priority to build.
What is Resonance and who should use it?
Resonance tests how well your content performs with specific personas like CTOs or marketers. It scores content against your target audience and shows what's missing or what they need clarified. It's especially valuable for regulated industries like pharmaceuticals where content must land perfectly with specific personas and meet strict compliance standards.
