This is a full-time, fully remote role for a Backend Developer at Roboto Studio. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of server-side logic, database management, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.

Role description
Your daily tasks will include implementing APIs, managing data storage solutions, collaborating with front-end developers, and integrating user-facing elements with server-side logic. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and AI-powered tools to build scalable, high-performance backend systems.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain server-side logic and database management systems.
- Implement APIs and ensure high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
- Optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, and scalability (caching, load balancing, monitoring).
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms (Salesforce, CRM, analytics, marketing automation tools).
- Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver cohesive solutions.
- Manage data storage solutions and integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, Software Development, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience with Front-End Development and general Programming skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with database management and meta frameworks (we only use Next.js).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with AI-powered tools and JAMstack is a plus.
Bonus skills
- Lots of experience with Next.js.
- Familiarity with frontend, but not a requirement.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and serverless patterns.
- Contributions to open-source or developer communities.

Technical Test
At Roboto Studio, our technical test is designed to evaluate more than just your coding skills—it helps us understand how you think on your feet, adapt to new technologies, and solve real-world problems. The test covers async data fetching, API integrations, optimization, and dynamic routing, reflecting the challenges we tackle daily as we build cutting-edge editorial experiences.
We intentionally include tasks with technologies you may not be familiar with, such as Next.js, Sanity CMS, and Algolia, to see how you learn and adapt. We’re looking for developers who can research solutions, implement best practices, and communicate their reasoning clearly. Using AI tools is encouraged; however, we’ll discuss your choices during the interview. Ultimately, this test helps us find candidates who are curious, adaptable, and ready to work at the forefront of web technology.
