What we're listening to 22/09

So if you're too busy to read our hot takes from the lousiest music journalists this side of Nottingham, feel free to jump straight into the playlist below. If you're up for grammatical errors, obscure bangers and everything in between read on to find our top 5 this week.

Living Legends - After Hours (Extended euro mix)

It's no secret that we love rap. It's even less of a secret how pretentious we sound when we say we're a sucker for anything with a jazz trumpet in it. So naturally, this track tickles everyone of our fancies.

We love the mellow beats and rhythmic bars and the trailing trumpet. Give it a chance and tweet at us if you hate it or love it. We love your hot takes (not really).

The Pharcyde - Passin me by

Needless to say The Pharcyde are hip hop classics and if you haven't heard them yet, go listen to their "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde".

We love The Pharcyde for their lingering samples and deep bumping drums, and we're especially a fan of this track, and "Oh Shit" by them for the 90's skater vibes.

We've also included one of the band's members up next to grace your eardrums.

Fatlip - What's up Fatlip

We can't get enough of this track, maybe it's the misanthropic adventures of Fatlip, probably says a lot about us. It also brings back memories for me of some of the early skateboarding videos that surfaced in Mansfield skatepark. Give it a go.

LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge

I'm losing my edgeeeeee. We're huge fans and we absolutely love James Murphy's interview here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYCz06bS380. There's something so frank and passive about this track. It's also pretty iconic in the New York dance scene (as if we've been and know about it).

Basically the entirety of this album is unbelievable, banger after banger, so get yourself a hot cup of Joe (that's what New Yorkians call coffee), and sit down and go through it. It's not like you've got anything better to do on a Sunday.

Slowthai - Doorman

We're still waiting on Slowthai making a grunge album, but for the time being, go check out this track with Mura Masa (Yeah I had to Google the spelling too). It's sick, it sounds like old Jamie T with a bit more aggression, so we're down.
